Here’s one story: When we were approached to evaluate the Head of Business Transformation position at a major healthcare brand, it was clear that we were going to be a key part of their growth and success. Our client needed a multi-faceted leader with experience in e-commerce and someone who could scale ideas globally and drive sustainable digital innovation. They wanted us to spot a leader who could bring in the expertise of multiple industries, who understood how to work with people from different backgrounds, and who had experience with large-scale transformations. The job was to oversee both transformational programs as well as continuous improvement activities in the Surgery Business unit. We knew that we had to be strategic, thorough, and responsive to meet our client’s needs. This meant that we needed to get creative—fast. We had just three days to present all our top candidates, which coincided with the weekend that would begin the next day. We began our search by researching candidates from other companies that had recently undergone similar transformations in their industries. We looked at candidates from all over different states—and we closely engaged with them. These were seasoned executives who had been successful at scaling businesses across borders and continents, who understood how to create sustainable digital innovation programs that would be executed flawlessly by their teams around the world.


We also connected with our network of executives who were experts in this area, including many who had closely followed our client organization. Within the first few weeks of the search, we were able to present four candidates to the board. All four profiles were shortlisted for the next level of interviews. Fast forward through multiple interview rounds, board meetings, offer negotiations and final acceptance, we have boarded the new leader at our client’s Innovation Center.
